Techweek, a week long event consisting of networking events, special speakers and workshops all centered around the tech industry happened this week, and being an intern from Fulcrum gt, I was lucky enough to go. The networking events were the main draw in my opinion. It was fun to go with other interns after work and enjoy the free food, drinks and tech demos they had available. The networking itself was hit or miss because about ninety percent of the people there were already well established in their careers and at least to me seemed like they wouldn't get too much benefit out of talking to a bunch of college aged interns. Nevertheless I had a few decent conversations and met some people who were working on startups of their own.
Earlier in the week on Monday I had a chance to go to the over 100 year old baseball stadium, Wrigley field and see a Cubs game. The field itself was very different from Tiger Stadium and because they won the world series last year, very crowded. I barely paid any attention to the game haha.

A couple blocks from where I'm staying was a food truck fair. A couple of the guys and I went down to go check it out this weekend. At the entrance we found out they weren't letting anyone else in for the day. I still wanted to get a picture though so we walked around the back near the exit for a good shot and as we were taking pictures, the bouncer asked us if we were trying to get in and just let us through. Pretty lucky.
Later that night we had some people over the apartment over for a barbeque out on the balcony area they have available. It's pretty nice and has some grills, a fire pit and hammocks. The weather could have been a little warmer and less windy, but it was still a good time to hang out and grill with everyone.

The days are going by faster and faster. It's already been six weeks and this internship is about halfway over. I've found that I've gotten myself into a routine that consists of going to work, getting back and working out, eating dinner and then relaxing before bed. Now that I've become more aware of it I want to put a little more effort into going out and exploring after work. There really is a lot to do here, but half of the battle is simply not being lazy and just going out and actually doing it.

Something I've been experimenting with this summer is eating vegetarian. I've always been curious about how certain people claim they feel better, have more energy, and less brain fog after sticking with a vegetarian diet so I decided to try it this summer. I wish I would have journaled by experience to have a more accurate conclusion at the end of the summer but I have to say that I generally feel pretty good. It is hard to gauge though because moving to a city is a huge factor in itself and could have had many influences on how I feel day to day. I don't miss eating meat but one thing I can say is that not being able to try some of the really good restaurants here is a bummer. I might just cheat a little the next time I get an opportunity.
